States’ Year in Review
New South Wales
What a fantastic year 2021 has been, with sheep and lamb prices at exceptional levels and seasonal conditions being well above average in most regions of the state. Producers are celebrating.
Dohne sale results this year have gone above and beyond with on property clearance rates up 5% to 94% on 2020 showing that ram breeders are having trouble supplying to the increased demand for Dohne genetics.
Auction sale results this year topped at $7000 for the Macquarie stud who also recorded the top average of $3518 well done. Gullendah was very close with $3233, Alfoxton and Kardinia improved their averages by around $1000 which is a great result. Tablelands, Harewood, Hyland, Calga and DD recorded top prices well above 2020 levels.
706 rams were sold at auction to average $2043 which is a great result, well done.
I would like to wish everyone a safe Merry Christmas and hope 2022 is kind to all.
David Berrell, ADBA New South Wales President

States’ Year in Review
Victoria
2021 saw all the rivers run accept North-west Victoria where the rivers are scant and hay cuts struggled to make the baling press. Shades of excellence appeared in the North-east, Gippsland and the South-west.
Tasmania saw a rare best ever on the East Coast whilst the North-west area vegetable croppers are still waiting for drying to provide access and the remainder of the state is from good to very good.
Both the store sheep and cattle markets are swelling and surging upon the news of every Northern rain depression.
The selling season saw 5 Stud on-property sales Koonik, Hamilton Run, JAG, West Wail and Stirling, whilst the Victorian Invitational Sale at Ballarat took the top average honour of $1894. Koonik sold 2 rams at $4000 for the top price honour.
144 rams were sold from an offering of 213, an increase of 9 rams on last year and a clearance rate of 68% or a 4% improvement. 4 of the 6 Sales were offered through Auctionsplus up from 2  of 5 sales last year.
The Community pump is moving up a notch. Let us hope it is here to stay.
Murray Rogerson, ADBA Victoria President
