2019 Australian Sheep & Wool Show

With a new layout to the Dohne Marquee, traffic flowed well around the sheep and fleeces on display. The Dohne show bags were a huge hit with approximately 400 being handed out, these show bags contained the 2019 Dohne Journal and the Dohne marquee show booklet. Again this year record numbers of people visited the Dohne display over all three days. Continue reading

2018 Australian Sheep & Wool Show

With a new layout to the Dohne Marquee this year, the main focus was on promoting the Dohne breed under the Association banner. This was a huge success with record numbers never seen before coming through the Dohne Marquee over all three days with stages where people had to line up just to get in. Continue reading

2017 Australian Sheep & Wool Show

An outstanding display of Dohnes attracted a huge crowd over three days through the Dohne marquee. Although only four judging classes were conducted this year it still managed to attract a large crowd. The Australian Sheep and Wool show is the premier all breeds Sheep event in Australia and the Dohnes presence is imperative. The sub committee is looking at ramping this event up and encourages as many breeders as possible to attend. Continue reading

2016 Australian Sheep & Wool Show

Dohne sheep returned to the show ring after a 40-year global absence to unveil a unique judging system combining objective data and subjective assessment at the Australian Sheep and Wool Show. Held on July 16-17 at Bendigo, the judging drew 60 rams from four states and featured a weighted index for carcass and wool traits, combined with visual assessment. The objective system, which comprised 65 per cent of the total score for each entry, was devised by sheep industry consultant Geoff Duddy, Leeton, NSW. Continue reading

📢AMSEA Coonong Sire Evaluation Open Day
📌Wednesday 21 February 2024
📌Coonong Station, Urana NSW
The Coonong Sire Evaluation Open Day will be a special event for the ADBA with the release of the ewe reproductive data from the Dohne Sire Evaluation Trial. In addition, the results of the meat-eating-quality tests will be presented.
On the day, the ewes currently in the evaluation will be on display, and details of the 2nd year of reproduction phase of the evaluation will be discussed. The following day (Thursday 22nd) there will be a debriefing held with all members welcome to also attend.

Expressions of Interest for a Photographer
The ADBA is looking for a dedicated photographer for next year’s Australian Sheep and Wool Show at Bendigo VIC.
As you are all fully aware the Dohne will be the Feature Breed in 2024. The association would like to capture this milestone event with quality photos.
You would need to be able to attend the 3 days, Friday 19 to Sunday 21 July 2024.
