The AGM of the ADBA has been set for Saturday, July 15 in Bendigo, to coincide with the Sheep and Wool Show. Members are invited and encouraged to attend. The Shamrock Hotel will be the venue, with the AGM roll in at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start. Australian Sheep and Wool Show (ASWS) has selected the Dohne as its 2024 Feature Breed. The Association’s Show Committee has been in regular contact with the Australian Sheep and Wool Show organisers, and we are delighted that our breed will be of prominence on this ‘big stage’ in July 2024 at Bendigo. It was fantastic to have the full complement of Councillors present for the F2F 2023. The major topic was the presentation and discussion of a Strategic Plan for the ADBA moving forward. Council would like to inform members of the passing of former ADBA Approved Classer and Elders branch manager Clyde McKenzie who passed away in the first week of January 2023. Clyde serviced the Riverina district for 47 years as a wool buyer, over these year Clyde was the District Wool Manager for Elders, along with serving 12 years as the Deniliquin Branch Manager. Clyde was dedicated to his role and a proud ambassador of the Elders Brand. His clients always came first, he was invested in their wool, whether it be sheep classing, ram selection or the wool market, Clyde was always willing to provide advice and assistance not only to producers but also for wool trainees and younger district wool managers. He had a sharp memory being able to name rams, bloodlines and clients from purchases 30 years ago and beyond. Continue reading →

Council has again this year, been working on behalf of all members to promote the Dohne breed, uphold breed standards and ensure that the Dohne breed and the Association has a positive future. In addition to Councils' ongoing standard operations of facilitating the ADBA, the appointment of Kate Brabin (AOK) to undertake a review of both the Councils operations and improvements that can be made within the breed, has been a positive step. Ms Brabin is in the process of providing a report from her independent review, and this will be thoroughly considered at the Council Face-to-Face meeting in February.
