Monday night saw council spend time with Dohne Studs breeders from the New England area - Alfoxton (Chris and Cindy Clonan), Amaroo Station (Lachlan and Dephine Johnstone), Harewood (Justin Tombs), Pippadell (Wayne and Phillipa Connelly) and Tablelands (Josh Frazer). It was the perfect opportunity for Council to catch up with (and also meet)  local studs, which is often the aim when holding meetings in various and strategic places near breeders. Continue reading

Dohne Breeders are to be congratulated on their sale results for 2018 amidst one of the worst droughts in history experienced across most of eastern and central Australia. Nationally, 2089 rams sold at auction for a 82% clearance and a $1542 average. Continue reading

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of Cameron McMaster. Cameron was known worldwide as the 'father of the Dohne'. Cameron started in the industry at the development stage of the breed and spent 30 years at the helm of South Africa’s breed managing the country’s Dohne society and helped steer it on the course to global success. The Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia have generously made a special section of their wool display for Dohne Fleeces. Respected Clare-based sheep classer Phillip Venning was doing what he loved right up until the end of his life.
Phil is being remembered for his considerable impact on many commercial Merino and Dohne flocks, not just in SA but also Vic and NSW, as well as being a recognised shearing judge.
